Giveaway: Spooktacular Hop

Thank you to I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and The Diary of a Bookworm for co-hosting this event! Make sure you look at the Linky at the end of the post. There are over 500 stops for this giveaway hop!!!!

Halloween is one of my favorite events of the year. I don't like horror, guts and blood, and being scared. I don't mind suspense. However, I love seeing kids dressing up as a favorite character, hero, or even just expressing their version of funny or scary. It's such a fun time for kids!

I have been considering and wondering what book I wanted to giveaway for my stop along the hop. Like I said, I don't like horror. I don't watch scary movies and I can't really even tell you of a scary book I've read. The ones that kind of even come close are Anna Dressed in Blood and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. Those were suspenseful enough for me! Haha!

For my stop on this hop, I am offering the winner of the drawing one copy of either Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake, Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, or The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

Entrants must be 13+. This is an International giveaway as long as The Book Depository ships to your location.
The winner with have 48 hours to respond to the winning email or a new winner will be chosen.

Y'ALLFest 2012

So, what are you doing on Saturday, November 10, 2012?
That sounds delightful.
Know what I'll be doing???

I will be hanging out in Charleston, SC with some AMAZING authors!!!

That's right. It's time for Y'ALLFest 2012!

I will be driving down that Saturday morning in time for the Keynote speakers, Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. Holy smokes! Right?!?

The rest of the day will be full of fun panels, meeting authors, and getting some lovely books signed. *squeeeee*

Check out the AUTHOR LIST!
Check out the day's SCHEDULE!
Are you a blogger? Check out the CONTEST!

If you live in the area, I hope you'll make it down for the day. I made the decision to go last year for the first one. I talked my mom into going with me. She had a fun time, but it exhausted her! Hehe

I was so thankful to have such an amazing event close enough to me that I could go down for the day. It was my first YA adventure! Being the first, it definitely has a special place in my heart. <3

I met a couple of bloggers on that day. Those ladies also have a special place in my heart! So, so, so nice! I'm talking about @TiffaniAlia and @ReadingAngel002Travis was also in front of me at one of the signing tables and I kind of babbled a little. LOL!

I had such an amazing time last year, I have gotten a couple of friends on board to join me this year. Yay for Angie and Anna!

Leave a comment and let me know if you're going! If you're not able to make it, who is the author that you are sad you're going to miss seeing?

Review: Every Day

Title: Every Day
Author: David Levithan
Source: Borrowed from my Library

Goodreads Summary & Cover:

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

My Thoughts:
Ahhh, this book! I really enjoyed Every Day. A LOT! The concept of waking up in a new body every day was intriguing. Not intriguing enough that I'd want to do it...but fun, nonetheless!

The relationship that A developed with Rhiannon was beautiful! The way she could tell it was him with just his eyes...beautiful! Poetic!

I liked that he accepted the person he was for the day. How he never tried to change who they were. He didn't want to damage any part of the person's life. No prejudice. No hate.

The way the story ended, I sobbed. I had to go back and re-read and make sure I understood correctly. Talk about truly caring for someone and loving them...WOWZAS!

My Rating:
Simply AMAZING!

Every Day is on my list for the Stand Alone Challenge.

Review: Scarlet

Title: Scarlet
Author: A.C. Gaughen
Source: Purchased

Goodreads Summary & Cover:
Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.
It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

My Thoughts:
Scarlet was a fun read! A.C. Gaughen's spin on the character "Will" Scarlet was very interesting. I could only keep imagining Christian Slater as a girl. Haha! +1 if you get it!

The book was full of secrets, romance, thievery, suspense, and more romance.

Robin and his band was a great group! They worked well together. Scarlet was not quite in with them wholly, but stole and helped people as much as Robin, John, and Much.

The ending definitely left me wanting more. I wanted to see what would happen after...well...after! Just go ahead and read it so you'll know what I mean. I need some friends to speculate with and make up our new ending!

My Rating:
Loved, loved, LOVED it! Amazing storytelling! Great character change and set-up! So glad I finally pulled this from my shelves to read.

As far as I know, Scarlet is still a stand alone book. If it turns out to have a sequel someday, I'll be happy! :)
