Adam, @Roofbeamreader (http://roofbeamreader.net/2012/07/02/austen-in-august-sign-up-post/), has come up with a great idea for the month of August -- a reading event for Jane Austen novels and Austen themed novels! There have been quite a few books lately that take a spin off of Jane Austen's works.
There is no limit or any kind of challenge to Austen in August. It is more of a read for the love of Austen!

I wanted to share the love of a book I recently read, as well as the book in which it was based.
I am offering a copy of Diana Peterfreund's FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS (my gushing review!) and Jane Austen's PERSUASION, in which FDStS was based.
Only registered participants are eligible for this prize.

This will be an International giveaway and will end at 11:59PM EST on August 13. You must be a participant and signed up for the event on Adam's blog. Also, you must be at least 13 years of age. There will be one winner and the winner will receive both books.
(Due to so many covers of Persuasion, I will allow the winner to choose the version he/she wants from
The Book Depository, up to $15.)

Thanks for hosting a giveaway for our Austen in August event!! Good luck to all the entrants. :)
ReplyDeleteI have read all of Jane Austen's novels once and am now reading Persuasion for Austen in August! Thanks for hosting this giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteTY for this amazing goodness! your book selection sounds great & another to be added to the reading list :)
ReplyDelete"How many Jane Austen novels have you read? :)"
are you wanting a count of just JA w/o spinoffs? that would be 6 for me.
it would take me waaay too long to add up the variations, sequels and contemps :) !!
thanks again for adding to the FuN !!
hi Liza! thank you for being so gracious. i love it that it's international. c",)
ReplyDeletealmost forgot, i've read two Jane Austen novels so far - Northanger Abbey and Pride and Prejudice.
DeletePersuasion is the only Austen I don't yet own. I've heard that apparently it's Austen's darkest novel...? Well, the only way to find out is to read it! I've read two so far (Pride and Prejudice in January and Northanger Abbey for Austen in August). Recently, Austen in August convinced me that Austen is definitely a great writer (the former work made me despise her back then, actually!). Thanks for hosting this, and I'm subscribing to your blog!
ReplyDeleteAs a Janeite since about the age of 12 when I first dove into my great grandmother's copy of "Pride and Prejudice" and shortly thereafter discovered "Sense and Sensibility" on the movie screen...I have read every novel many times including "Lady Susan". I have also seen just about ever adaptation for TV or the big screen ever made. I live and breath Austen on a regular basis. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway and for being part of this exciting event. I love any reason to pick up Austen!

ReplyDeleteI have read 'Emma' and I'm presently reading 'Pride and Prejudice'. Thank you for this fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI just won a copy of Persuasion at Allie's blog, so you can take my name out of the drawing so someone else can win! I don't want to be greedy :)
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time since I read Austen. Two of her books that I remember reading are Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I've read them all, but I always look forward to a re-read.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I haven't read any Jane Austen novel yet. :(
ReplyDeleteThis is so great. Thanks for the giveaway! How many JA novels have I read? Well...started at least two. Finished? Um, zero. But I'm moving right along through Persuasion this week so hopefully that number will be one soon. :)
ReplyDeleteProgress! :)
DeleteI've read two in total and I've loved them both. My copy of P&P is one of the most prized books in the little library in my room. :)
ReplyDeleteHow many Jane Austen novels have I read? All six of them! :D As well as Lady Susan, The Watsons, and Sanditon, plus one of her juvenilia pieces as well. I am well and truly a Janeite.
