Title: Lady Thief (Scarlet #2) See my 5-star review of Scarlet!
Author: A.C. Gaughen
Source: ARC from publisher via Netgalley for Book Nerd Tours

About the Book

Scarlet’s true identity has been revealed, but her future is uncertain. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate at court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves. With a fresh line of intrigue and as much passion as ever, the next chapter in Scarlet’s tale will have readers talking once again.

Thoughts
Well, if you saw the link for my review of Scarlet up above (or here!), you know how much I loved the first book. I thought the characters and story were just so well thought-out and developed.

When I found out there was going to be a book #2, I was thrilled! After reading book #2, Lady Thief, I am amazed! A.C. Gaughen did not disappoint.

In case you haven't read Scarlet yet, I will try to keep any type of spoilers at bay. However, what are you waiting for?!? Did you see that it received 5 stars (Mickeys) from me? You need to read it. Now! While you're picking it up, go ahead and make sure to have a copy of Lady Thief to read right after. You will NEED to do that. This wait in between the 2 books for me has been painful. The book was worth the wait, but it felt like centuries!

You will continue to love Scarlet, Rob, John, and Much. I have so much love for these four! Scarlet is an amazing heroine. You will still loooooathe Lord Gisbourne...and company. Prince John... UGH!

Gaughen's character development and story is just as strong, if not more so, in Lady Thief.

The ending. THE ENDING! Oh, book 3, I need you. A story about a strong woman who has vowed vengeance is going to be such a kick-ass read. Gaughen, you are a torture master.

A review copy was provided. All thoughts are my own and I have not been persuaded in any way.

Rating
I'm glad to get to continue with a 5-star (Mickey) rating for Scarlet and the gang!

About the Author
I am shamelessly addicted to staying up far too late (it feels like stealing time), diet coke (it burns so good), Scotland (stupid country stole my heart and won't give it back. Interpol has been ineffective for prosecution) and thieves (so I guess I'm not that mad at Scotland).

Synopsis

Every child in Belle Dam is taught about the feud from an early age. There are ‘our’ people and ‘their’ people. Friends and enemies. Associates and strangers. It’s the kind of town where eyes are always watching, and you don’t need a reason to sell out your neighbors.

But the feud is a lie. As a new wave of fury sweeps through the town, creating a third front to an already overtaxed war, Braden has been broken worse than ever. His innocence? Shattered. His heart? Crushed. His magic? Gone. His new life? Ruined. And this is only the beginning.

Beneath the city lay deep wellsprings of power. The one who controls them is the one who will win the feud. In a city filled with puppet masters, Braden must elude their strings and end the feud once and for all. But first, he must outsmart his father, evade Catherine’s dark magic, regain what was stolen from him, trick a phantom who refuses to die, and foil a demon’s master plan.

Even then, he may not survive. Because power is a problem, and victory comes with a cost…
